Texas has the strongest real estate fundamentals in the nation, with a
much more stable real estate market than California and Florida. As a
result, the Texas coast has become the nation’s most promising
emerging vacation home market.
Texas A&M University Real Estate Center economist Jim Gaines states
that a recovery is inevitable, partly because of the limited amount of
coastal land in Texas. People still want to live on the water, and the
pendulum has swung toward being a buyer’s market along the Texas
coast.
South Padre Island is the only part of the Texas coast considered to
be sub-tropical, with the same latitude and climate as Miami, and
about half the price. Great deals combined with excellent interest
rates and new development potential make this an opportune time to
invest in real estate at South Padre Island.
History is being made on South Padre Island as utilities are moving
north into the previously undeveloped parts of the island. A second
causeway is currently under study and proposed to land in this area,
opening up thousands of acres of developable beach and bay property.
